A Career Spent in the Classroom
Founder Shawanda Buggs has spent over three decades in K-12 education, working as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, Assistant Principal, and Dean of Instruction before starting Bridging Your Gap Tutoring. That background shapes how every student is assessed, taught, and supported today.
The mission is straightforward: help every student close learning gaps, strengthen academic skills, and build the confidence to keep learning independently. That focus on measurable growth, not just short-term homework help, is what shaped the business from the start.

Enrollment begins with a conversation about your child's academic needs, followed by a diagnostic assessment to identify specific strengths and gaps in reading, math, writing, or science. From there, an individual learning plan is created with clear goals and benchmarks for progress.
Tutoring sessions, whether one-on-one or small group, begin based on that plan, and progress is reviewed regularly so the plan can be adjusted as your child grows. Parents stay involved throughout, with updates on how their student is progressing toward their goals.
